SlowFood Central Piedmont Donates $1,000 to DFM!
The Davidson Farmer’s Market extends a huge “thank you” to Slow Food Central Piedmont Region for its generous donation of $1000.
Slow Food CPR, whose focus is cultivating a sustainable food economy for the Carolina Piedmont region, held the Ark of Taste: A Slow Food Feast in May, to highlight the need to protect and preserve delicious, exceptional foods that may be at the risk of extinction. The dinner featured 10 renowned chefs who prepared a variety of unique dishes to approximately 140 people at the Historic Beaver Dam House in Davidson.
The money raised from the event will go toward helping us do what we do — connecting local people with local farmers, providing sustainability education, managing the market while providing a weekly community gathering place for food and fun.
Please consider becoming a Friend of the Market so we can continue on the path of success. Visit our Membership Page for more information.
Be a Part of Davidson’s Locavore* Revolution!
The Davidson Farmer’s Market (DFM) brings together the region’s vibrant agricultural community and the residents of the North Mecklenburg area to create a sustainable lifestyle. Every Saturday morning from May through October local producers with deep roots in the region are selling their goods in downtown Davidson, North Carolina.
The market is a lively gathering place for meeting friends and for learning about food, agriculture and nutrition. Growers and producers are on hand to answer your questions, from “How was this grown?” to “How can I reduce my carbon footprint?” The local producers at the market include farms, nurseries, bakeries, meat and poultry providers, and specialty foods producers; no distributors or resellers. The DFM includes a variety of quality goods, such as certified organic, naturally grown and conventionally grown fruits and vegetables, grass fed beef, pastured pork, eggs from free-range chickens, fresh baked goods, fresh cut flowers, herbs, and bedding plants and more.
The DFM is located between Main and Jackson Streets in downtown Davidson next to Town Hall - just minutes off Interstate I-77 and exit 30 in the Lake Norman area. >>map
The Market’s main purpose is to provide local foods. However, other plans include music, special events and educational demonstrations. Make sure to bookmark our website and check back often for upcoming events! [back to top]
